Coke Flight App

A proprietary app developed for Coca-Cola's top executives to securely share travel information and enhance cultural awareness during trips.

Project Overview

Problem: Executives needed a secure, centralized platform for accessing critical travel information, including safety risks, flight details, and country-specific regulations.

Goal: Develop a secure application (for iPads) that facilitates the sharing of critical travel information among Coca-Cola's top leaders, enhancing safety and efficiency during travel.

Solution: We created a user-centered, dark-themed interface with multiple viewing options for trip listings, easy access to meeting documents, and country-specific guidelines. The app includes security features like login screens and time-outs.

Results: The Executive team and their Assistants have embraced the tool, eliminating the need for risky printed documents. The app has increased confidence in travel safety and centralized all necessary travel information.

My Role: Project lead, facilitating communication between Security and Executive Assistants, coaching the Designer through UX problem-solving, and overseeing UI development.

Audience: CEO, Executive Leadership (and their assistants), and Security personnel

Timeline: (8 week project) Launched in 2017, ongoing development.

Discovery

Stakeholder Interviews: We conducted interviews with key stakeholders to understand trip processes, safety measures, and executive needs. This included Security personnel, Executive Assistants, and the Executive team themselves.

Quick Access to Info: Our research revealed that executives primarily use iPads while traveling, necessitating quick access to flight, driver, and meeting information. Additionally, understanding country-specific cultural norms was deemed crucial for successful international travel.

Safety and Cultural Sensitivity: Executive Assistants had specific opinions on the application's look and feel. However, most agreed on the key features needed to ensure our executives' safety and cultural sensitivity.

Define

Feature Prioritization: We prioritized features such as multiple view options for trip listings, easy access to event documents, and country-specific guidelines. We focused on creating a dark-themed interface for better low-light visibility, addressing the executives' on-the-go work style.

Mood Boards: We presented the team with diverse mood board visuals to align design preferences.

Design

Wire-frames: We created clickable wireframes that included various ways to view trip listings (tile, calendar, and list views), event and meeting documents, and country-specific guidelines. We iterated with Executive Assistants several times to refine the display of trip-related content, ensuring the design met user needs and preferences.

Deliver

Security: The final product delivered a streamlined solution with key features to meet executive travel needs. Robust security measures, such as login screens and time-outs, ensured data protection.

Flexibility: The app featured a secure, user-friendly interface with multiple viewing options, allowing flexible access to information. Its dark-themed design improved visibility in low-light conditions.
